The pencil margin on the FAQ folio says "patient questions only" — meaning practical questions about how we file, not anxious ones about whether news is real. The disclaimer on the ledger page covers non-guarantee framing once; here we answer process.

Reader need: before citing a volume downstream, your compliance or communications lead wants to know verification steps, correction habits and tip handling.

Working method: questions in display italic; answers in plain Work Sans; jump-nav on the right for long reads on desktop.

What you receive: concise process answers you can paste into an onboarding memo — with pointers to policies on privacy and terms.

How does a story enter the morning index?

A section editor proposes a line with channel tag, source path and scope sentence. A second editor verifies the source path and reads the scope aloud at the table. Only then does the line receive a dateline and index number. Embargoed material waits in the card tray until the agreed hour. The morning index closes when the desk editor signs the top slip — nothing enters after that pass without a second signature.

What does a correction look like?

Corrections appear in the same volume as the original entry, with a new dateline, a plain-language note on what changed and editor initials. We do not silently edit body text. If scope shrinks — for example, when a source withdraws — we say so explicitly. Corrections are never folded into the original line; they sit beside it like a tipped-in errata sheet.

How are anonymous sources handled?

We use them rarely and never as the sole basis for a ledger line. When anonymity is granted, two editors record the reason in the internal log and the public line describes what the reader can know without naming the source. We do not publish anonymous accusation as fact. When we grant anonymity, the public line still states what category of source spoke and why naming was withheld.

How do embargoes work?

Embargoes are time locks agreed with the source or agency. The index slip sits in the tray with the lift hour written in pencil. Automated alerts do not bypass the tray — editors file manually so mistimed release is caught by a second pair of eyes. If an embargo lifts early, we hold the line until two editors confirm the new hour.

How does APAC context differ from Singapore desk coverage?

Singapore desk lines prioritise city-state files readers must act on locally. APAC file lines trace cross-border effect — how a rule, programme or market shift in one capital refracts elsewhere. Both channels use the same verification passes but different scope templates. Singapore desk answers what must we do here; APAC file answers what changed across the border that touches us.

How are reader tips reviewed?

Tips sent to [email protected] are read by the desk editor on duty. We reply when we need clarification; we do not promise publication. Tips with legal risk or anonymous accusation are declined or redirected to on-the-record paths. See our note-us page for what to include. We file tips in the correspondence log even when we decline — so nothing vanishes without a desk decision recorded.

Can teams request a custom channel pulse?

Yes, in writing. We agree pulse, volume types and correction delivery when engagement begins. Custom pulses still use channel tags so the public ledger remains coherent. We publish the agreed pulse on the ledger page with its effective date so your team can cite it in onboarding.

What is not covered?

We do not file stock tips, crypto signals, celebrity gossip, conspiracy framing or sensational crime theatre. We do not publish fabricated quotes or pretend to live coverage we are not filing. If a topic falls outside our channels, we say so plainly rather than filing filler.

How do holidays affect the feed?

We publish a shortened weekly ledger before public holidays listing paused channels and combined digests. Daily pulses resume on the next desk day unless we announce otherwise in the ledger itself. Holiday ledgers list which volumes pause so you can plan briefing cycles without guessing.

Where is the privacy contact?

Data protection enquiries go to [email protected]. Postal correspondence may be sent to the Stanley Street address marked for the data protection officer. We acknowledge data protection mail within desk hours and respond with a reference number you can cite in follow-up.

Questions we did not list may still be answered by mail — include enough context for the desk editor on duty to route your note. Process answers here are updated when verification passes or channel pulses change; check the ledger page for the signed letter that frames studio practice in plain language.
